v1.1.0 18 October 2026
BeatAtlas 1.1.0
What's new in 1.1.0
- Show mode (Shift+F): a full-screen view for running the show. A big bar and beat counter with the time signature's beat dots, the tempo, the time and timecode, the current section, and the next marker with a countdown that lands on its beat ("in 4 bars… 3… 2… 1"), plus the marker after it and a bar of the whole song. F11 makes it full screen on any monitor; Esc returns to the editor. It follows BeatAtlas's own playback, or your DAW's playhead in the plugin.
- In REAPER:
- Apply to REAPER project, from inside the plugin: the tempo map, time signatures, sections and your markers go straight into the project, in one undo step. Applying again replaces what BeatAtlas wrote and never touches your own markers.
- Use this track's audio: the plugin takes the song from the item on its track, so there is nothing to drag in.
- The song's place in the project: a song that starts later in the project (or plays at another rate) lines up for the playhead, Show mode, the click and the apply.
- Check REAPER's grid: after an apply, BeatAtlas reads REAPER's bar lines back and names any bar that is off.
- The click in your DAW: Click beats and Click hits now work in the plugin too (off at first), on the exact beat of your project.
What's new in 1.0.2. The analysis helper runs only inside BeatAtlas.
What it does. BeatAtlas listens to a song and finds its beats, bars and time signatures (also where they change), the hits of kick, snare, hi-hat and bass, and the bars it is not sure of. Mark the song up while it plays (markers snap to the beats or hits), see every marker in a list with exact times and timecode, and export marker CSVs for REAPER and MagicQ, a cue list, a MIDI tempo map, a timecode (LTC) WAV and a click track. Standalone program and VST3 plugin.
Installing. The installer is not signed yet, so Windows warns that its publisher is unknown: click "More info", then "Run anyway". Needs Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) and the free Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable (x64). Choose "Install for me only" unless several people use the PC; REAPER finds the plugin there by default.
Licence. Try it free for 7 days (the demo needs the internet once), then buy a key. A key works on 2 computers and covers version 1 with all 1.x updates, including this one. BeatAtlas works offline and checks in once every 30 days; audio and file names never leave your PC.
Known limits
- Windows only. Beats and bars cannot be edited by hand; markers can.
- Quiet passages can be read at half speed (say 55 instead of 110 BPM).
- The timecode WAV and the cue list have not been tried on a console yet; the MIDI tempo map was checked in REAPER only.
- One song at a time.
